My name is Ashley Fells and I moved to Astoria from Portland about a year and a half ago. I'm originally from Florida and am basically trying to get as far away as possible. I think I'm succeeding. I'm a bartender at the Voodoo Room 4 nights a week, hence my sleepiness in this class in the morning. When not in class or at the Voodoo, I spend my time driving up and down the coast with my boyfriend, thrifting, going on VHS hunts, and cooking.
I am attempting to balance my school and extracurricular lives. The last time I was in college was 10 years ago and it is hard to get my mind in the right place. I'm not quite used to this kind of structure in my life, but I do think it's a good thing and will be beneficial; not just because I'll (hopefully!) come out of here with a degree, but also because I finally have to make some kind of priorities, rather than just flying by the seat of my pants.
I am attending Clatsop to eventually become an RN. I am planning on working in Public Health and Family Planning. I have done volunteer work for Planned Parenthood and very much believe in a woman's right to choose. I am interested and concerned with reproductive rights and making sure young women have access to the information and health care that they need and deserve.
Welcome Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your comments the first day of our class and look forward to hearing more about you. I think using blog spot is a good way to express ourselves and communicate more about our current issues. I think we share the balancing of schedules and assignment completions anxieties that accompany college life. I also returned to college after leaving Clatsop College in 1981 or 1982. It was scarey coming back uneducated in technology especially at age forty-nine, I chose to make my degree completion the greatest goal I could achieve. My college experience has exceeded my expectations and I've gained much more than I could've ever imagined. Sherry R. Holdiman
