Having lived in the United States for fifteen years, I’m
originally from Germany. My first name is Joachim, but nobody here can
pronounce this, and I go by Joe.
I’m a second year automotive student at MERTS and live in
Warrenton near the beach, which I enjoy a lot. Some of my hobbies are reading
exciting novels of science fiction, mystery, and thrillers. I also enjoy
relaxing at home and watching movies on a big screen TV with high end stereo
sound. I enjoy traveling a lot, especially visiting national and state parks in
the American West. Some of my favorite places are the redwood forests of
Northern California and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.
I am disgusted at the greedy behavior of Oregon
LNG that blatantly shows that corporations couldn’t care less for the will and
benefit of the people. I’m equally dreading WalMart coming to town, which will
destroy local businesses and hurt people. I’m thrilled about the recent
discovery of a record-setting tree near Cannon Beach. During my first visit to
the US in the 1980s, recycling was an alien concept, but the country has come a
long way. I meticulously collect recyclables and bring them to the transfer
station because, unfortunately, there is still no recycling at our place. I
enjoy watching that there is progress at Clatsop Community College in the
protection of students against second-hand smoke.
